Tibet

Tibet, the roof of the world, provides number of fantastic trails. Around fourteen of the world’s 8000+ m peaks including Mt. Everest is situated in Tibet. Due to remoteness of Tibet combined with its climatic extremes, gives trekkers a special challenge. Also you will be able to explore the rich Tibetan culture and ecological contrasts. There are only just places where you can witness an ancient and sophisticated culture.

Trekking to Tibet needs proper preparation due to its altitudinal location, even on the most popular treks it can involve several days of travel without any outside help, high passes up to 5,300m are crossed.

Below given are a summary of our trekking programs in Tibet. We hope you will like them.

 
General Information

Documents:
Individuals are not permitted to trek in Tibet, everyone must join an organized group arranged through Travel Company. Upon joining our trip we will sort out all the necessary documents required for the trek.

Physical Conditioning :
It is advisable that you have a physical fitness exercise like walking, hiking, cycling before you undertake any trekking trip in Tibet. Also you have to make sure that you are upto the challenge of high altitude.

Climate :
As the climate in Tibet is extreme the trekkers must be prepared for it. But generally the best time is from May through October where the weather is mild, with warm days and cool to chilly nights in the mountain.

Knowledge About Tibet :
Before you travel to Tibet it is good to have some knowledge about Tibet, as this will make your journey more smoother. You can visit your local library or you can buy one of the travel guide book listed below:

Equipment :
The period of year you choose to walk will obviously dictate the equipment you will need. As a minimum, you will need basic warm clothing including a hat, scarf, gloves, down jacket, long underwear, warm absorbent socks, all-weather shell and sun hat, in addition to comfortable pants and shirts. We will be forwarding the complete equipment list according to your trek/period.

Tibet is one of the great unspoiled wilderness left on earth. Lets respect it and help preserve the unique ecology and beauty of this fragile region.

Trip Grading :
To make your holidays enjoyable, it is essential to choose a trip within your capabilities. All our adventure trips are graded and described. You are advised to go through our trip information find out which program is more suitable for you.

Grade *
These trips are a mixture of some longer and shorter walks. During these trip, hill walking experience is desirable. The walking hours is about 7 hours per day.

Grade **
The day stages on these trials are combined with demanding and moderate walks, which normally takes 6 to 8 hrs a day.

Grade ***
These trips are known to be the most strenuous and regarded as genuine adventures. An experience of mountaineering with the capabilities of carrying on normally at an altitude of 4,000 to 5,000 meters and possessing a degree of good stamina is desirable. Duration of walking is about 8/9 hours a day.
