Tibet

Please read the following information carefully before you decide to take part in one of our tour programs. As we want you to fully understand our policies and terms & condition.

DETAILS ON GENERAL INFORMATION AND BOOKING HOLIDAYS

BOOKING AND VISA: Booking with full passport details including sex and occupation should reach us with full payment at least two weeks prior to the departure date. Seven working days will be required for us to obtain Tibet/China visa. During this time the client should be in Kathmandu. An urgent visa fee will be charged in case of late arrival.

HEALTH AND AWARENESS: No special inoculations are required but because of Tibet's high altitude travelers with a pre-existing condition of heart, lungs or anemia should consult a doctor before even thinking about a visit. Most other travelers, once they are acclimatized, rarely suffer more than mild discomfort from the altitude.

CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES: From October to March warm clothes are required to fight the frosty cold and from April to September light clothes to shun the scorching head. However, a jacket and a sweater is advised throughout the year as the weather may change unexpectedly at any time. The recommended items are: A domestic first aid kit, water purification tablets, a thermos flask (1ltr), toilet and tissue papers, flashlights, sleeping bags, comfortable walking shoes, dust masks, utility knife, sun hat, sun glasses, sun tan lotion and limited number of clothes.

CLIMATE: Tibet is cold in winter, cool in summer and generally dry. Temperatures can vary greatly within a single day. The higher you go the colder it gets. Sunlight is extremely intense. Winds in winter are ferocious. The pleasant period to travel in Tibet is from April to October.

FLIGHTS: China Southwest Airlines operates Kathmandu-Lhasa-Kathmandu flight twice a week i.e. every Tuesday & Saturday.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE: You should make every effort to restrict your personal equipment to a maximum of 15 kg. Many of our trips involve internal flights to the destination within the country, and 15 kg is the maximum check-in baggage allowed on these flights. Incase of extra baggage, you are required to pay yourself.

HEALTH & VACCINATIONS: It is your own responsibility to make sure that you are fit enough to join a FAR OUT-NEPAL adventure trip. We advise you to have a thorough medical check up before you decide to join the trip, though the Government of Nepal does not check your vaccinations records when you enter the country. However, there are several major diseases that can be prevented or whose risks can be significantly decreased by immunizations. Upon confirmation of a trip, we will send you the complete information regarding health and medical preparation to help you prepare for your journey to Nepal.

SMALL GROUPS - SURCHARGES: To enable us to organise trips at the lowest possible cost, all of our trips are priced on a minimum group size of 4 (unless otherwise stated). Should the final number of bookings be less than 4, to avoid canceling a trip with a low sign-up, a surcharge of a certain percentage to cover up the extra costs involved in handling a small group, will be added to the final trip price.

PRIVATE GROUPS & EXPEDITIONS: We do offer very special discounts on group bookings and can also arrange specially tailored programs to suit your requirements. Please email us for information.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: As you are traveling to remote areas of the Himalayas, it is strongly recommended that you obtain travel insurance which is valid overseas. This policy must cover unforeseen events such as baggage loss, emergency evacuation, helicopter rescue and expenses related to repatriation back to your country or residence in the case of your having an accident.

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM: FAR OUT-NEPAL is fully committed to responsible tourism. Due to so many people traveling to this part of the world, the local communities and eco-systems are experiencing rapid changes. Therefore we have made it a point to operate in a responsible manner by supplying the necessary information to our valuable customers on how to minimize the negative effects that their ignorance may have on Nepal. Our staff are well acquainted with these codes and will assist you. Your cooperation in this regard will help us to make this place a paradise.

PLEASE NOTE: We are an adventure company and most of the tours/treks/trips in this website are operated in the remote areas of the Himalayas, within underdeveloped countries, where events are less predictable than in the West. The unexpected is the norm in these areas, and despite painstaking planning and organization, these adventure trips can never be taken for granted like a normal holiday. Many of the places which we visit do not have the same quality of emergency health and safety services that we are used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be cancelled, road transport is generally uncomfortable and unreliable and unpredictable, and hotels often do not approach the standards of the West.

This unpredictability also means that the itineraries that we put forward for each of our holidays should be seen as statements of intent, rather than as contractual obligations. A variety of factors, including weather, transport difficulties and political instability, might dictate that we change any of these itineraries. The trek leader will make any changes which are necessary, after consultation with the group. Only rarely will such changes be considerable, and we will always do everything within our capacity to minimize the effects of the enforced changes. However, we cannot be held responsible for the results of changes or delays, irrespective of how they are caused.

Reasons for traveling with FAROUT-NEPAL: FAR OUT-NEPAL will make your holidays exciting and enjoyable! We will introduce you to the unique lifestyle, cultures, history, wildlife, wilderness and tremendous landscapes of the Himalayan region. We are also ecologically conscious, operating tours in small groups, to minimize the impact on the fragile Himalayan environment and the local people, and to maximize the enjoyment of the group! Our tours are well organized and led by professionals, having a careful balance between exploration and relaxation, comfort and adventure. Most of all, we are committed to giving you a GOOD VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY!

WHEN TO GO: FAR OUT-NEPAL runs holidays throughout the year. For each area that we operate in, we naturally choose to go when the weather is at its most pleasant and settled. By timing our trips to coincide with the most favorable conditions, we give each group the best possible chance of enjoying good weather and achieving its objectives.

WHEN TO BOOK: To be sure of a place on your chosen trip, you should make your booking as soon as possible. Early booking is helpful to us, as there are quite often special permits which have to be obtained well in advance of the group's departure. Also, with the growing popularity of adventure travel, airline seats, especially at the busiest seasons of the year, are at a premium. For our most popular trips, you should book at least 6 months in advance.
