Hill Resort

Nagarkot

This small hilltop resort on the Valley’s eastern rim offers views of a big chunk of Nepal’s Himalaya, including five of the world’s ten highest peaks (Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Manaslu). It has sweeping panoramas of terraced hillsides so typical of Nepal. Perched on a 2,300 m high ridge 32 km east of Kathmandu and 20 km north of Bhaktapur, Nagarkot is a popular destination for overnighters who stay to catch sunrise or sunset on the distant mountains.

Dhulikhel

This ancient town is situated 30 km east of Kathmandu on the side of the Arniko Rajmarga (Kathmandu-Kodari Highway). The Newar town of Dhulikhel, once an important link in the ancient trade route to Tibet, offers a traditional atmosphere along with spectacular views. Dhulikhel has a glorious past which can be seen in the lovely buildings and intricate wood carvings in the shop-lined streets and temples. Pleasant climate is a big attraction at Dhulikhel.

Kakani

Located 29 km northwest of Kathmandu city, the fabulous holiday area of Kakani features attractions ranging from beautiful alpine scenery to the magnificent Himalayan panorama particularly of the Ganesh Himal massif.

Daman

For those seeking the ultimate pan-Himalayan view, Daman is the place to go. Located 80 km southwest of the Kathmandu valley, Daman (2,400 m) offers the only unimpeded view of the entire Himalayan range. Daman is located on the Tribhuvan Highway between Kathmandu and Birgunj. There is a view tower fitted with long range telescopes. Daman can be reached in four hours from Kathmandu.
